Helping Families Find Solutions

The Process
- Interview with the parents/guardians to evaluate the situation and discuss specific needs, including: types of schools; treatment options; social, geographic and financial considerations.
- Meet with the student in person, if available, or communicate by phone to assess interests, goals, strengths, weaknesses, and overall character.
- Review of transcripts and reports from both an educational and psychological perspective.
- Recommendations made for further psychological and educational testing.
- Seek historical details and clinical input through individuals who interact with the student, including therapists, medical professionals, and school personnel.
- Continuously support parents through phone and electronic communications.
- Referral to psychiatrists, psychologists, attorneys specializing in special education law, or financial counselors as needed.
- Synthesize all the information gleaned through interviews and test results to recommend the optimal school or program placement options, always taking into account the family’s unique needs.
- In the case of any uncertainty, assist the family in choosing the most well-suited placement based on the child’s needs and the program’s qualities.
- Assist with transportation arrangements as needed.
- Ongoing, consistent, and unlimited advocacy and support including communication regarding progress with program staff, home therapists and/or referring professionals.
